With this coronavirus thing, we have all been forced to re-think how we do things.
And I want to share a story with you, about something that just happened in the Speak English with Christina community.
— Vocabulary tips —
(Look for the words with a “ * ” ):
- Got out = were released, were allowed to leave
- Social distancing = staying 6-10 feet (1-2 meters) apart, to avoid passing a virus to someone
- workouts = sports sessions
As you know, I live in France. We went into confinement on March 17. We got out* yesterday, May 11. Woohoo! I was sooooooo happy to see my coworkers again (from a distance of 6 feet, of course!)
But during my confinement, something amazing happened, thanks to you guys, the Speak English with Christina community.
That was EnglishFest: 110 live events, workouts* in English, journaling workshops, DIY videos, and even Zoom karaoke in English!
We came together, shared fun times, made new friends (despite social distancing*), we even sang and danced in English.
Together, we lived each day–a little–in English.
None of it was planned in advance, but we knew that we had to do something to lift your spirits, bring you together, and hopefully, find some joy in these crazy times.
Like I said, this situation has forced us all to think a bit differently…
So I want to ask you:
What would you like to see in the future, at Speak English with Christina?
If you imagine the PERFECT program for improving your English, what does it include?
Share your ideas with me in the comments below! I can’t wait to read them!!
Take care of yourself,
Christina

thank you so much for the rich program you made to help people improving their english skills and especially to understand native speakers because that was the huge trouble i faced during my stay in Washington DC on 2019 . i think the best way to reach this goal is to practice listening a lot so that
the ear adapts to differnt sounds , it is essential to have a normal conversation without the slightest complex . despite daily efforts, i steel feel myself not ready and that discourages me . i don’t want to fail .
Hi Christina,
My name is Denis and I’m from Québec. During this pandemic situation I’d like to watch films or series in english. But it’s very difficult because it’s too fast and the vocabulary is quite different. Could you give me some advice to be able to understand without subtitle and stay relax during and after the film.
Thank you for your help.
I love all emails and videos that I touched from you.
Do you know something? I wanted to participate your course, when I started paying I founded I haven’t get an account yet. I began to making an account ,I failed .what a pity!

Hi,
I’am from a Morocco, we are in the confinement since the 16 th March.
In the beginning, it was very difficult to adapt in the situation. but after I found that is the opportunity to rewiew my GPS (Goal Planning System) and to fixed others goals. So I decided to work my english to have in the futur the TOEFL.
By working the exercices, i found the difficults especially in listening and speaking. so I’m registred in the free lessons of christina.
Hi Christina,
A idéa for thé future, : some lessons could be small stories about différents thems, like “at the restaurant or the hotel”, “on travelling or shopping”, “at the cinema or a party”, “speaking about thé whether”, “gong to the bank or to see a doctor”, …., all the situations we can live every day. Son we could learn New vocabulairy to mprove our english in the real live.
It’s very difficult to write a comment because the corrector change every word in french.
Best regards
Gilbert
