What are your hopes and goals for the New Year?  Whatever they are, I wish you the best.

I’m looking forward to making 2021 a great year for everyone in our international community.  No matter what happens in 2021, I know we will get through it–together.

One thing that keeps me motivated and inspired is working with life-long learners–like you.

I know you’ll have plenty of exciting new goals for your learning–and especially for your English.

Maybe you were even considering a New Year’s resolution–like making 2021  the year you finally become confident in Business English?

But what if I told you I have a better idea for helping you start making steady progress today?

Why not start 2 new habits instead?

Index:

1. Want to Become Confident in Business English? Start a new learning habit.

2. Habit 1: Connect with someone in English each day.

3. Habit number 2: Add ONE English habit to your morning routine.

4. Take the next step: Improve your English in the comments

1.Want to Become Confident in Business English? Start a new learning habit.

The problem with New Year’s resolutions is that they tend to get broken.
We start with a big goal and then feel frustrated when we don’t meet it.

Or we start with too many resolutions.  Then we get overwhelmed and give up.

Small habits, on the other hand, are simple, doable, and powerful.

Each time you work on your habit, you’ll know you’re taking one step closer towards being confident in your Business English.

I’m going to tell you about two new habits you can try.  And I’m going to ask you to choose ONE to start.

Give yourself permission to succeed at this one new habit first.  It’s the most effective way to reach your Business English goals.

2.Habit 1: Connect with someone in English each day.

Connecting with others makes us happier. It’s good for our mental health.
And when you connect with someone in English, you get a chance to use English!

This can be a quick email or text message to a coworker you appreciate, a message to someone in a Facebook group or a call on WhatsApp.

You can also join my Faster Fluency Conversation Club and find English buddies around the world to connect & speak with, every day!

I love the Club and the members because they’re so kind, and because it connects people around the world.  You can have great conversations with wonderful people every day, in English.

It’s a perfect way to support your English this new year, so that you can finally feel more confident in Business English.

3.Habit number 2: Add ONE English habit to your morning routine.

Choose a habit  you can associate with an activity you already do in the morning.  That way it will be easy to make it part of your routine.
Let me give you a concrete example.

Every morning, I take time to sit down and have breakfast. I don’t have to think about that habit.

So, I recently associated another habit with my breakfast habit: Listening to a podcast to learn German.

This way, the old habit–breakfast–is a trigger to remind me to do the new habit–listen to my podcast to learn German.

Breakfast = German podcast. And while I drink my tea, I make notes in my German notebook.

When you associate a new habit with an old habit already in place, it makes it a lot easier to keep going.

Whatever habit you chose, the idea is to pick something you know you can do. Today, tomorrow and throughout the year.

I can’t wait to see what happens when you try making ONE new habit and working toward your  Business English goals one step at a time.  I hope you’ll let me know how it goes.
